CD Reviews

Lemon Fresh in the Limelight
Quilty | Newark, Delaware | 11/04/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The spiritual descendents of Badfinger, the Raspberries and Marshall Crenshaw, Starbelly don't break any new ground here, they simply pave it with perfect harmonies and more hooks than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.Each song here is a standout, and if this were 1977, perhaps some of these songs would be in AM radio rotation, alongside "Baby Blue" and "Go All The Way".So, if you are looking for the ultimate CD to play endlessly on those long summer days at the beach (Rehoboth Beach, Delaware?), this is it.Highly recommended."
My fave record of 1998 and beyond!

"Starbelly have vocal harmonies unmatched in modern pop music today. It's almost kismet. Cliff Hillis plays a MEAN guitar, and Greg Schroeder is one of the best pop drummers out there, no question. Combined with Dennis Schocket's pop-sensible bass and melody, this is a tip top record."
