"One has to wonder just where the mold goes when it is broken...because it is certainly shattered with the release of Royce Craft Man Without A Band. We all know that major labels are not the cutting edge of music these days, that new sound is decidedly coming from indie releases. Why the labels can't see this is still a mystery, but in this CD the question has to be asked..." why isn't this guy on a big label with big label support?"The production value is quite good, the song structure is balanced and the playing...well that is first rate especially the acoustic guitars. I love the arrangements of songs like "Rosalyn" and "Did I Take Too Much". Other tracks have solid backing from a first rate rhythm section in Tom Kinne and Mike Owens. George Pannis shows some great flair in adding just the right punch with his soulful trumpet...it is unexpected considering the lineup but like the baby bear's porage...its just right! Then there is the cigfiddle and daxophone? I have never heard of these insturments, but they lend a nice touch to a great production. Kudo are deserved all around. If you aren't left humming these tunes you've got a hole in your soul. I can not wait for the next installment from this artist and crew. On Amazon's scale of 1-5 I rate this CD a 10."
Truly a good one!
