CD Reviews

Starring Roy Orbison
Johnny Heering | Bethel, CT United States | 04/24/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This it the soundtrack to the only movie that Roy Orbison ever starred in (and his only acting job ever, period). It is sort of like an "Elvis movie", only starring "The Big O" instead of "The King". Unlike Elvis, Roy actually wrote most of his own material, and this soundtrack is no exception. All of the songs here were written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees(co-writer of "Pretty Woman"). Most of the songs here have a "western" feel to them, which makes sense, because the movie is a western. These aren't the best songs Roy ever recorded, but they are still pretty good. At the very least, they are better than most of the songs that were featured in Elvis movies at the time. None of these songs were hits in the U.S.A., but "There Won't Be Many Coming Home" did manage to become a hit in the U.K. Here is the complete track listing:1. Whirlwind
2. Medicine Man
3. River
4. The Fastest Guitar Alive
5. Rollin' On
6. Pistolero
7. Good Time Party
8. Heading South
9. Best Friend
10. There Won't Be Many Coming Home"
