Good dance beat, corny lyrics

"Back in my college days,I was a big fan of europop. I bought a lot of dance remix singles. One of my (then) favorite songs was the one hit wonder Roula's explicit "Lick It". I think the title alone speaks volumes to what the song is about, and it definitely isn't about finding out how many licks it takes to get to the center of the tootsie roll lollipop. Just for nostalgia, I thought I would give this single a listen to after so many years of collecting dust. I didn't think a song could sound so dated as "Lick It" did. The lyrics are unbelievably corny. Compared to today's music, this song is tame but stupid nevertheless. The remixes were repetitive. They all sounded the same. Talk about lack of imagination on the remixers' parts. BTW...who the heck wants to listen to an accapella version of this lame song? I know I don't. The lyrics are excruciatingly painful to listen to, so why listen to it without the beats? The dance beats at least makes the song somewhat bearable. I thank the heavens that there was never a follow up single or a full length album from Roula (and if there was, I thank the heavens that I didn't see it)."
