CD Reviews

"This beauty that excels"
D. Knouse | vancouver, washington United States | 05/11/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"4.5 stars. This album is more or less a continuation in the same Goth Metal direction as their previous release "A Dead Poem." This is superior for the the simple reason that Rotting Christ has refined its apporach, and the result is more fluid. I am a fan of the persuasion that prefers the heavier Rotting Christ albums such as "Thy Mighty Contract" and "Khronos 666." But that should be noted when considering that I rated this more mid-tempo release so highly. For that matter, there really isn't a bad Rotting Christ album for sale here at Amazon.com. "Non Servium" is listed here, but I don't see it being readily available to their fans in the near future. But those that are available are all worth owning. If you are more into mid-tempo Gothic dirges with solid guitar riffs, then "Sleep of the Angels" would be a fine purchase. But if you are like me and you prefer a more brutal attack, try "Thy Mighty Contract" or "Khronos 666." All get my attention. There are many fans here who rank this album as their best. It is a fine album, to be sure. Thank you."
Not bad...but my least favorite from them.

(3 out of 5 stars)

"Out of all of their albums, this has to be my least favorite. It has a couple great tracks, but the only one that really stands out is the title track. On albums like A Dead Poem, Triarchy of Lost Lovers, and Genesis, they succeed in being far more epic....whereas on this album is feels very tired and run of the mill. Not a bad album by any means, but I recommend pretty much any of their other albums before this one.Oh...and they are from Greece. Not Germany."
This Is An Excellent Disc!

"This is a very good disc! I strongly suggest that you purchase it! Why? Well because every track is moving and filled with excellent musicianship! If you are into After Forever, or perhaps Orphanage (An Excellent band from the Netherlands!) Get this disc, it will not dissapoint any metal fan!"
