CD Reviews

Sweet, blazing jazz music that stops and starts on a dime!!

"THESE WORDS NOW REPRESENT A LARGE FRACTION OF WHAT YOU'LL FIND ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB ABOUT THIS INCREDIBLE TRIO.... I am not skilled at effectively expressing why a certain album or band really turns me on. These guys completely blow my mind, though. It's like speed jazz--John McLaughlin wishes he had the taste these boys have. Fans of Stephane Grappelli will be glad to hear him on a couple to tracks. I think these guy's are steeped in the tradition of Django Rhinehart, though I've never heard his stuff. Although there are heaps of notes packed into each measure of music, a great attention to creative phrasing and general tunefulness is never absent. Oh my god, they're so good!!! I can't find them in any music store, so you MUST buy this right here, right now. I highly doubt any jazz fan will be disappointed. Even if you are, you can always sell it back for a portion of your initial investment. THIS IS TRULY WORTH THE RISK. I'm gonna go listen to it right now...."
Casual virtuosity...or so it seems...

"I had picked up this CD a few years ago in Europe, a few of their CDs actually, at once in a CD store after listening to and watching the store owner of the CD store responding to a question about Gypsy Jazz in general (since closed and a deli now) rant, spit, and drool in French and broken English complete with somewhat undetermined hand gestures about the Rosenbergs after going out to look for CDs of this Gypsy Jazz that i had heard live with Bireli Lagrene the night before in the Stravinsky Hall at the Montreux Jazz Fest in Switzerland and was assured by him and a few seconds of listening on store headphones that he might be right despite the rabid gestures by the store owner and walked out of the store with 15 total new-to-me Gypsy Jazz CDs and artists. This proved over time to be one of the best of the genre Gypsy Jazz and fairly well respected, also Jan Akkerman is a great guitarist and was well familiar with him and he plays here on the CD as does Stephane G. You won't be disappointed in buying this CD and adding it to your collection and then pursuing the CDs of the individuals of the group Rosenbergs who also put out their solo efforts. It's more straight guitar playing at its fastest and most accurate."
