CD Reviews

Kristy Thirsk is awesome.

"I'm another one of those people who found out about this group by accident; I fell in love with Kristy Thirsk's voice from Delerium's Karma and did a web search to see if I could find out anything about her, and I came up with this band. Then I bought Shiver (which is available from other places), the Dead and Gone to Heaven EP, and this. One word to describe this album is "exhausting." From the pounding "Bruise" to the ethereal "Lovely Psycho", Thirsk delivers each song with consistent passion. She also wrote all the lyrics on the album, which are not happy lyrics, but, besides Bruise which is violent sounding, they are almost masked by beautiful music. Her occasionally harsh vocals are what give the songs edge as they soar over the often calm music, and it's a very effective delivery. This is a very different album from Shiver, their first album. Shiver has a more pleasant sound to it, though the lyrics are similar. Kristy uses her voice differently in this, and as a whole it's a much less "pretty" sounding album, but it's still beautiful. If you're wondering what Kristy is up to now since Rose Chronicles split, she's singing for a band called Balligomingo."
I Absolutely Love This Album. One Of The Best Albums I Own.

"This album is absolutely astonishing. I found out about it from the Delerium album Karma with Kristy Thirsk singing in it. So, I decided to check out the band she's in. Man, at first I HATED the album. It sounded so awful and very discourse, like none of the songs made any sense to the ear at all. I was seriously considering selling it. But, after 4 or 5 listens to the album in its entirety, everything just clicked like magic. I started picking up the feel and essence of the music and singing on the album and it was incredible. I then couldn't believe what I was hearing. Thereafter, I got the feel and flow of the album. This is really incredible music from one of the best Canadian bands out there. I hope they come up with a new album soon. It's been awhile since this one came out. I am anticipating it very much. If you can find a copy of this album out there, be sure to pick it up. Believe me, you won't regret it. Very ethereal music. It's Awesome."
Hopelessly Beautiful

"I discovered Rose Chronicles on a compilation album and fell madly in love with the track "Blood Red". Don't let the title scare you. It's a beautiful song with passionate vocals and lush music. When I saw the "Happily Ever After" album on Amazon I had to have it. The title itself spoke of it's lovely tunes within. Every track is filled with passion and soul. A very under appreciated band. Listen and love."
