Album Description

2010 collection. Rosalie Allen was known as "The Queen of the Yodellers" - one of the biggest names in the New York Country scene of the '40s and '50s and an award winning writer and radio presenter. This double disc set includes a massive 60 studio recordings from singles and transcriptions featuring her first solo recording, a cover of Patsy Montana's "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart", plus rare early recordings with the Tex Grande (Denver Darling) Band. In addition are both versions of her famous "Guitar Polka" - one featuring Chet Atkins. Hear her ventures into Rock 'n' Roll and Western Swing as well as the Country ballads, Yodelling cowgirl songs and tender love ballads.

A Heaping Double Helping From The Queen Of The Yodelers!

"Country Music History Books may fail to mention her name. And hardcore honky tonks may scoff at this northeastern girl who based her cowgirl career in New York City. But Rosalie Allen made a splash well over half a decade ago that still manages to send in ripples to those lucky enough to have found her. Before country music decided to pack up and move to Nashville, Rosalie took it to the Big Apple hosting an immensely popular radio show ("Prairie Stars"), opening the city's first country music store and recording a slew of wonderful sides for RCA - many of which are included on this generous 2-CD set boasting over 60 tracks! Here you will find delightful ear candy with Rosalie's Hollywood-ready country-crossover voice parading through almost every sub-genre of country music imaginable - from hillbilly, western swing, cowboy and rockabilly to polkas, novelty, country ballads and straight-on pop. And of course there is an ample supply of tracks featuring her trademark one-of-a-kind yodel. Ms Allen is backed up by cream of the crop musicians including an early Chet Akins and performs songs penned by icons such as Cindy Walker and Jenny Lou Carson.
