"The Ropers were one of the most shamefully overlooked bands in pop history. And these 11 songs prove what a tragedy it was. Their songs had that quality... An ability to span the entire spectrum of relationship-related retrospectiveness. The good, the bad, and... Well, and everything in between... And there's a lot of in-between. The line I left for the 'one line summary' is from the second song on the album. It is one of my favorites. He sings..."Always wondering...it's an ancient mystery...Tell me what you think of me... And I will show you how you feel...Simply blown away... keep your council to yourself... Always leave me on the shelf... And I keep coming back for more.... More is always fine... I'll be your patient 'till I die." And the chorus repeats "Leave me out of it...," almost as though he remembers how beautiful it all was...and then the rush of how badly things ended up hits him.
