CD Reviews

Surf-Rock-Funk of the highest calibre

"This is a superbly crafted album containing songs that will energise you for a great day. When the band were first described to me they were described as a bit like the the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and I can see where they are coming from. They peddle a similar brand of anarchic funk, but Rootjoose are more fun. I guess that they are more like the Spin Doctors might have been if they lived on the beach and dated Shonen Knife. The Joose Is Coming Soon and Paradiddle Song are the livliest funkiest songs I can remember hearing. Virtually Fat Free would sound great by Shonen Knife. Can't Help Living This Way moves me every time I hear it. This album has everything. The production is rich and the vocals are spot on. I find it hard to pick a fault with the album. OK, I'll concede that it is probably too short and not listened to anywhere near enough. In closing this album seems to appeal to everyone I have ever played it to. My metal loving friends love it. My techno loving friends love it. My funk loving friends love it. My soul loving friends love it. Basically everybody I know who has heard it has loved it. By this album while you still can. You won't regret it.Oh, BTW, they're Cornish - which is cool!"
A big enthusiastic thumbs up, and it always has been!

"These guys are the greatest. You've just got to look at the album cover to realise that they are the happiest, funkiest dudes ever. And I miss them like hell. This album has cheered me up many a time.Their talent is so obviously bursting out the seams of their hugely over-sized, wicked surfing pants! The music is full of personality, that makes me desperate to meet these guys and tell them DON'T GIVE UP! I want you up and running again and making me happy! I have so many good memories of this band, as I sing their music all the time and every happy moment reminds me of them. ROOTJOOSE RULE!"
Majorly mad

"Holy Jesus, This band is simply the best! I've said it once and i'll say it again "oh my god are these lads good!" Forget Reef and Garbage, start focusing on these surf dudes. And the guy who said the bad stuff, can shove it. There is no comparison between Rootjoose and Reef. This is the second time i've written 'cos people do not get it. If these dudes were given their full shot, they'd make their record company well proud. Anyone who doesn't like them are prudes and need to just chill out a bit. Relax!!! Their gigs are fab, their songs are just the best and they work really hard to get to the top. But you lot out there are the ones that need to do it. You've gotta buy the records, so get in your pocket and hop down to a music store. Don't delay, buy your Rootjoose records today!!! P.S Love you loads James, Rob, Harry and Fez!!!!!!!!!!"
