CD Reviews

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This two-fer, issued by Polygram's Rebound budget label back in the '90's, put the two albums "Romantic Pianos of... " and "Magnificent Pianos of... " on a single disc and titled it as "Twin Piano Magic". In 2002, Vocalion (from the U.K.) remastered and reissued the same two albums on a single CD but retained the original titles of the two CD's for the piece. For reviews of the content (various opinions, anyway) of these albums, see the reviews under the Vocalion listing.

While the Vocalion piece has been remastered, the sound quality of this Rebound CD is excellent and only the most particular listener would detect any real difference upon listening. As typically found in budget reissues, there are no liner notes with the Rebound version other than a relisting of the tracks contained within. For the casual listener, this Rebound fills the bill nicely and it can be obtained for far less than the Vocalion CD.

If you are contemplating obtaining these two Ronnie Aldrich albums in the form of this 2-on-1 CD and don't require the ancillary bells and whistles, the Rebound issue is a perfectly satisfactory alternative for most listeners."
