Timeless Music and PRISTINE STEREO TRANSFER

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The widely available The Best Of The Ronettes, features a sub-standard mono transfer. This collection, which has a less inclusive song listing, is made more essential because of its amazing stereo transfer. This is what these songs used to sound like flowing out of a transistor radio......like more than music. This is, truly, reference (demonstration) quality.
This is an import from Italy. It rarely comes up for sale, so snap it up when you can. I was lucky enough to obtain a used copy from Amazon. ....Track listing is as follows. * Denotes a particularly impressive transfer.01. Be My Baby*

"I've wasted alot of money on "stereo" Ronettes CD's from the EEC over the years. They are all grey market, unauthorized bootlegs. I have "The Ultimate Collection" on Marginal Records CDMAR 050, and "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" on Spectacular Sound CD SS 400 ( 2 CD's that can still be found these days). Both are manufactured by making digital copies of LP's (yes, vinyl albums). They didn't even check the speed of the record players they were using as almost all of them are speeded up a little. The sonic range of them is very narrow and annoying - the highs are very tinny and there is almost no bottom. The only value they have is as reference material for tracks that are never going to see the light of day officially ("Lovers", "Oh, I Love You", etc). The quality doesn't even come close to the official release on ABKO, "The Best Of The Ronettes".

The only Phil Spector produced Ronettes material available on CD that was actually remastered from the original magnetic-tape source material is the ABKO "The Best Of The Ronettes" and it is superior to anything else.

Phil Spector-produced Ronettes material was never widely available in stereo until 1981 when "Presenting The Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica" was reissued as "Wall Of Sound Vol. 1: The Ronettes Sing Their Greatest Hits" (Phil Spector International # 2307 003). The Ronettes were NEVER in stereo on the radio until after this release."
