"Tartini is perhaps one of the lesser known late Baroque composers but it is more a reflection of the wealth of talent of the time (Bach, Handel, Vivaldi) than it is a lack of ability on his part. A brilliant violinist, his compositions reflect a great sensibility for musical textures and color.



The Concerto Grosso in E minor is pleasantly plump... and the performance unpretentious. The dark pathos of the Grave movement in the cello concerto has wonderful intonation without a hint of melodrama. Cellist Roel Dieltiens, who studied with Frounier and Navarra, gives a wonderful performance that sounds authentic and passionate.
