An unknown gem?

"I got this one on LP when it was released back in the 1980's, and now I've re-bought it on cd. Some albums you liked several years ago doesn't live up the memory you have of them, but Rods "Wild dogs" is still a good record even 'tho 20 years have passed. Actually, I give this one 3 1/2 star...Rods, a trio from New York, didn't make it big, so this album (as well as their prior one) can in some case be regarded as a rare and unknown gem. The music is heavy metal in the sense of "New wave of british heavy metal", a genre that was very dominating in the early and mid 1980's. But unlike some other bands in that genre Rods have a more melodic approach, something that pleases me.The songs on "Wild dogs" are mainly good, and the album is a very even record without any fillers. You might have a thing or two to say about the vocals (Feinstein is the cousin of Ronnie James Dio...) and the lyrics which in my opinion could be better.From what I know Rods did release a couple of albums after this one, but they never succeed. So the band broke up and guitarist/singer David "Rock" Feinstein went into the food business by opening a restaurant..."
