CD Reviews

Oh so short of a five star rating, but still a must have CD!

"The amazon reviews are pretty much on target. There are a few weak moments, especially vocally/lyrically, but there are some moments of absolute greatness that more than offset these. Wake Me Up is dynamite, and the instrumental passages throughout are marvelous. Good rhythms, great keyboard textures. Buy it.I'm hoping the Norlander solo will be as good."
Very nice stuff

"The Rocket Scientists aren't exactly groundbreaking, but they make very nice progressive rock with pop tendencies on their second album. Singer/guitarist Mark McCrite has a nice voice, the lyrics are pretentious without being overbearing, the melodies are interesting and memorable and the production is crystal-clear, belying its home-studio origins. Leader/keyboardist Erik Norlander is quite something, with a full range of digital and analogue synth sounds, and his tuneful playing provides the lion's share of the color. Fans of the poppier end of the prog spectrum like Spock's Beard and the Alan Parson Project (though I have to say that the Scientists are ... a lot more vibrant and exciting than the Project's ever been) should love these guys."
