CD Reviews

Astonishing and Surprisingly
Fernando Monteiro | Sao Paulo, SP - Brazil | 11/24/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A friend of mine played this album for me without telling or giving me any clue about who was behind it. It didn't take too long though to recognize Tim Leary's voice, which made me even more surprised. It starts with an incredible song - No Regrets - which tell us more about Tim's life than most biography written about the man. Well folks, be prepared. This is only the first track. "Ripped Van Winkle", "Rock & Roll Hollywood" and "Drive By Love" would make most hard rockers pale and embarassed. The connection between Tim and Simon Strokes is anything but perfect. "100 Naked Kangaroos..." could only be written by Tim, starting from the title itself. "Global Village" is poignant. It says "jump abord, let's take a ride. The freedom train has just arrived" What else is there to say. Great guitar solo too. It closes with another great one which says a lot about aspects of Tim's life and death. The album rocks all the way. You just can't skip any track. In the end Tim asks: "Is that too far out?" No Tim. Not for us, who are always about to rock and live the high time. Get it. You won't regret it."
