"I bought this not believing that anything so cheap could be any good, but this recording of 2 obscure piano-forte quintets by Beethoven contemporaries is really excellant. The Reis piece is the real stunner here---well-crafted and very well played. I've found the "Brilliant" series to be quite good, and this recording is no exception."

"RIES we know as Beethoven's good friend. We expect him to be excellent, and he does not disappoint. The real find here is FRANZ LIMMER (1808-1857). Good stuff. I want to hear more from him. For example his opus 10 String Quartet. And his opus 11 Quartet for 4 Cellos. And his opus 12 Trio for 3 Cellos. Perhaps a label like Naxos could be persuaded to dig a little deeper?"

"Both of these compositions are gems. They are very easy to listen to and are pleasing to the ear. I especially enjoy the sound of the "period" pianos which balance the group very well. The playing is top-notch and it is refreshing to hear something other than the old "war horses" for a change!"
