"This is not a great opera. It was jointly composed by the Ricci brothers, with one writing some of the numbers and the other the rest. Luigi's music is banal, and Federico's not much better. Though much of the music is pleasant, and easy to listen to.
Unfortunately, the recorded performance is also lacking merit. The soprano Daniela Lojarro often sounds harsh and ugly, though this may partly be due to poor recording which is well below what one expects from Bongiovanni. The rest of the singing is better, but not distinguished and the conducting is pedestrian. This opera is very disappointing in view of the excellent recording of Ricci's work by Opera Rara. I don't think it is worth getting."
