CD Reviews

Selena has a great voice + music, Graciela has a great voice

"When I heard this album , which starts off with Selena, I thought it was great! The smooth Tejano/Pop sounds with Selena's great voice are really a great thing to be coming out of your CD player. When the first Selena song ended, I thought,"Well, No Graciela is coming, she'll probably sound good to" She did have a beautiful voice, but the music was bad. Harsh trombone and acordian sounds are scattered thru out all of her songs. And then came a Selena song which was smooth and sounded great! So it alternates from good/bad everytime, and that made me not enjoy the album that much. Id go buy a Selena album where she is the single artist cause Selena and Graciela are from two different music worlds, so you might not like one of the two artists."
How I found out about Graciela Beltran...

"I was a Selena fan in 1996, when I purchased this CD. I had no idea who Graciela Beltran was, but I figured if they put her on the same CD with Selena, she must be great. To my surprise, her musical style was nothing like Selena's. I was unaccustomed to Banda music, and thus, I found most of Beltran's songs to be quite unappealing. However, one song on this album stood out, and I played it over and over: "Tu Me Dijiste Adios", a low-key, yet beautiful, mariachi ballad. I became interested in learning more about Beltran, and was happy to find that her style has changed in recent years. She released a mariachi-ballad CD, "Tuya", which was nominated for a Grammy in 1998, as well as the tejano-style album, "Robame Un Beso." She is a truly versatile artist, and for anyone who likes her voice but not the music that backs her on this CD, I encourage you to listen to her more recent material. You may get hooked."
Both Graciela and Selena Have Beautiful Voices...But....

"I agree 100% with a prior review- the reason i'm really happy he wrote that, is because he gave Graciela the kind of praise on this album she deserved. He said her voice was beautiful- and that it is. When he said the music was bad, i also agree 100%- i really dislike banda, and really, it just ruins her songs! i know i sounded really excited over them in my last review- but i forgot to make clear one thing- it was only her voice that i loved. i know in several past reviews of all her albums, i complement all her songs, but i only listen to them for Graciela's beautiful voice. As For Selena, the phenomenally gorgeous-singing beautiful pop princess- her music is wonderful to listen to and she will always be remembered forever. She will always be an angel. Tip for this Album: if any advice i would give to Graciela or the producers, i would say- GET RID of that banda! and simply transfer Graciela's vocals to completely new songs or remix pop versions of her old songs- like Selena's music! have Graciela sing beautiful pop ballads or fun, catchy dance songs, because her voice is high and bright and energetic, and her voice would do justice to them, AND she would get MUCH more popularity! infact, with her phenomenal voice and a DRASTIC music change- she could easily cross over into USA and be loved by even Americans, now with this big latin craze. i just have to say- i'm american and i have loved latin music LONG before it became a trend in America! i always believed in it, and if i believe in Graciela, then i know that her dreams and popularity will come true."
