Synopsis

Album Description
"Addictions & Scars" is the follow-up to their first Internet only CD "Emotional Blur". Red Delicious spent 3 years trying to perfect a collection of songs to release as their official 1st retail CD. Lead Singer Sara Wallace floats through the songs with her beautiful and provocative vocal sound taking the listener on a journey through every imaginable thought provoking innervations. Producers and band mates Rob King & Steve Baca lay down a foundation of musical bliss from heavy guitars and infectious drum grooves to serene pads and orchestral strings. Co-Producer Chris Vrenna (NIN, Tweaker) added his touch to more than half the CD and laid down some raw powerful drumming on a few songs on "Addictions & Scars". The CD was mixed in Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood by world renowned mixer Jack Joseph Puig, known for his ability to merge the sounds of the past three decades to create something that is thoroughly modern, Jack Joseph Puig has produced hits for the Verve Pipe ("Freshmen"), The Black Crows ("Good Friday"), No Doubt and John Mayer among others. Classical pianist and composer Paul Romero also contributed some amazing string arrangements to the recordings. Red Delicious has delivered a collection of songs that simply can?t be denied. With their unique blend of alternative rock, with acoustic and electronic influences, their songs are guitar and melody driven, sultry and laden with hooks, yielding a sound all their own.

CD Reviews

Outstanding songs from an outstanding group!

"I first ran across "Red Delicious" many years ago on [...]. After hearing a few tracks I downloaded everything I could find and later bought their "Emotional Blur" and Sampler CD's. Since that time I have not stopped listening to their music and it has not stopped giving me the same thrill I had the first time I heard them.

Songs such as "Casualties", "Sort of a Prayer", "Want Me", "Sweet" and so on are simply some of the best you will ever hear bar none. The quality of the song writing is exceptional, the lyrics are the kind that move you and stick with you. Then there's Ms. Wallace's voice - incredibly beautiful, strong and subtle all at once. The mixes are far more sophisticated than most and the sound is unique, rich, and fun with lots of layers and masterful touches that will bring a smile to your face.

Why this band has not yet become more of a commercial success baffles me and I do hope (for their sakes) that this release starts them off on that road. They have quite a following already, thanks to the net, but their music deserves an even wider audience - it truly is that good.

I don't write many on-line reviews of anything, but this group deserves such high praise and I was so glad to see their CD finally released that I just had to do this.

If you love music - get this CD - you won't be disappointed!

Update: 2010-02-20: Six years later and I'm still listening and still loving this music. It's a real shame this group never got the commercial success they deserved. If you can find the "unplugged" versions of some of the songs mentioned above on-line, they are definitely worth having. "Casualties" is one of the best songs about War ever written - period. The others mentioned above as well as their other work is all of stellar quality. Again, the song writing is incredible and far, far above the usual fare. Still some of my favorite songs ever. I still get chills sometimes listening to this music, it's that good.

I like the earlier versions and productions better. I found some of the production values a bit harsh on this CD by comparison. I'm really picking nits here. Maybe it's just because I heard and listened to the earlier versions for years before this came out. I truly regret that I never got a chance to see them perform live in their heyday. Would have been a memorable experience, I'm sure.

More people need to hear this amazing band

"When I saw there were so few reviews for this album I felt like I had to write a little something.

Many years ago I discovered them on [...] and downloaded all the available songs. I was very impressed and instantly hooked, so when the sampler Emotional Blur came out I quickly got that to.

After that it was a long time waiting but then this album, Addictions and Scars came out and man was it worth the wait. This album is incredible, every song is amazing and quite incomparable to anything else I've heard. Now I just need them to release more!

I'd recommend checking out the bands official website [...] where the entire album is available to stream free."
