WOW!! Modern Bagpipes combined with other instruments-GREAT
hoodoo@mcn.net | Montana | 04/16/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like only traditional bagpipe, this is not for you. They combine traditional bagpipes and many other instruments to play some great music. Some upbeat, rock and roll, some really haunting music. I really enjoy it. (and this from a bagpiper)"
GREAT combination of Bagpipes, rock, and jazz!

"I love their combination of the bagpipe and flute mixed with rock and jazz! I know this description may sound like a strange mix of music, but they have really created a teriffic, unique sound. I like all of their albums, but this one is my favorite--I highly recommend it to those who like the pipes or celtic/rock!"
Good, but they've done better
wildwielder | Macungie, PA United States | 02/25/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This CD was among the first piece of "Celtic rock", along with Wolfstone's Pick of the Litter, I was exposed to, and I loved it. Seeking more, I then bought their first two albums, Hard to Beat and Primeval. I quickly discovered that these were much better examples of what this band is capable of: raw, experimental, live-sounding music which, whether it's an upbeat reel with funk or hard rock inflections, or a gentle, atmospheric soundscape, reaches deep within your soul and just...touches something. But Space Piper, by comparison, seems in retrospect to be almost too polished, too antiseptic. Perhaps this is the result of half of the band quitting and being replaced. In any event, while this is a good album, I heartily recommend it's predecessors first, and then if you have any pocket change left, pick up Space Piper."
