CD Reviews

Pure Street-Punk.

"Rancid is one of the finest and most respectable punk rock acts out today, so why don't they get the respect they deserve? To many people, the word "sellout" becomes common when any band makes it somewhere in the world of MTV or Top Ten records. Although explaining how a talented group of real punks who have actually lived the life they sing about, seen the things they talk about, and still hold the same beliefs, wear the same clothes, play the same music, still buy the same vinyl, and stick with the same record company that got them where they are sellouts just for making it on MTV seems impossible for the lil gutter punks who are so "anarchy" they can't even take baths. Face it kiddos, these guys know punk rock. They've made it their lively hood. ...This is real street-punk from punks who were really on the streets and actually know about the stuff their talking about. Most people take what they have for granted...I know I tend to. So when a band like this comes along, I take notice. These men have talent, experience, and a real knowledge of their world, and the world around them, both in the punk universe, and in the music business. So please, excuse them if they've had enough of being proverty stricken and actually want to succeed and make the money they deserve and go on MTV to sell a few more records. Like you have the right to judge them (most of you anyway...and you know who you are! ). I haven't lived the life these guys have had to, and I hope I never do. Most of you out there are the same way, but still whine about Rancid "selling out" while you sit in your fathers car to go to the local Borders or Tower Records to buy another copy of MaximumRocknRoll. I listen to this album and I hear real punk from real Punk Rockers, something I tried to be but never was. I admire Rancid and their dedication to the scene. They're the reason I got out of punk. Not because I didn't want to be like them, but because I knew I had no right to moan about how rough things are for a kid living on the streets of Denver in the who really had no place to go. I knew that my little "Anarchy" sings all over my backpack in High School was worthless. I knew that guys like the ones in this band have been there, and done that. I showed my respect for Punk Rock by become something I could be proud of, not something I could fake. Rancid doesn't fake. And don't think that for a second if you out there had the life these guys had and had the chance to get out of it by making money you wouldn't, 'cause ur not fooling anyone. This is real punk rock. This is RANCID."

"I listened to this album night and day back in 1995. I remember, it was on sale for 5 bucks. It was new but already on sale, I said "what the hell, It's only 5 bucks". That was one of my greatest investments. I can still listen to this album and just love it. You feel those guitars and drumbeats all over. If you love Punk, or are just a music lover that can appreciate this album, buy it. If you also get a chance to see them live, check them out. They are great live and just a cool bunch of down to earth guys. I'm sure many people out there already love Rancid, but there are many who still don't dare listen. Lets help them out. This is Rancid in their prime."
For everyone not just "True punks"

"This is an awesome album i hope EVERYONE can get a chance to listen to this music, I'm not a punk-pop fan but let the kids be, If they like it they like it and i think they have every right to listen to all rancid out there, it would definatly amaze them and i think any one out there who is anyone could learn to love rancid. They are rough and in your face and it just makes you want to get up and move.
Before you buy this album i really recommend And out come the wolves first if you don't have any of their albums, Rancid is amazing and i hope more people can learn to appreciate how good this band is."
