The ultimate Ramsey Lewis "kick"

"Music should make you smile and every cut on this album does exactly that. There are many Ramsey Lewis "greatest hits" type collections which makes it difficult to distinguish one from another. This album is Ramsey "electrified" and that is in part what makes it so great coupled with a more mature/experienced Ramsey (the original LP was released in 1973 and I've been playing it ever since!). So while this album has the familiar titles, this is Ramsey re-imagined with his "new" trio of that era sidekicks, Morris Jennings and Cleveland Eaton, each stupendous in their own right. Only on this album do songs like Delilah, Carmen, Blues for the Night Owl and Wade in the Water reveal themselves in the ultimate Ramsey Lewis vision. As great as the originals of these compositions are, they fall second to the sheer energy and delight of the performances on this album."
Not a good choice

"I accidentally bought this CD and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. While Ramsey Lewis is fantastic and any number of CD's here on sale are great additions to any collection, this is a horrible piece of history: reconfigured songs using the twangy electric guitars and Moog synthesizers of the late 60's/early 70's. Sounds like a soundtrack to a bad old "mod" movie."
