CD Reviews

RAMMSTEIN KEEPS ROLLING . . .
EMAN NEP | 10/19/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Rammstein is on a roll! I don't know how these guys keep coming up with killer songs, but they do.

So what do you need to know about this CD?

For the experienced Rammstein fans, "Benzin" is hard and heavy in the same way that "Mein Teil" was. However, I don't think "Benzin" is as catchy a song as "Mein Teil" but it is still shoulders, head, and hat above other songs from other bands today.

For the unexperienced Rammstein fans, if you like hard and heavy music where you can still hear the vocals, then this is the CD for you. And even though Rammstein sings almost exclusively in german (a plus, in my book), the lyrics can actually be followed and heard.

This single has 4 different versions. The first one is the original, just like you would see it if you turned on MTV in Germany like I did and watched the music video.

The second and third one's are remixes of the same song. I personally didn't like them, but maybe you will.

But what sold me on this album was "Benzin" WITH APOCALYPTICA!!! Yes! And I must say, that Apocalyptica's remix of "Benzin" is good, especially the first few opening notes, like you're about to walk into a haunted house or something.

One downside to this CD though is that it doesn't have the music video included. In the music video there is this HUGE firetruck that is so big that it takes up all 4 lanes of the road and it runs over everything. And the ending is a bit . . . funny/tragic, if you like dark humor.

Oh, and for you real big Rammstein fans that can't get enough, you can often get the latest singles as soon as they come out IN GERMANY!!! Just go to Amazon.de (you might need to know a wee bit of German to get by, but hey, you've been listening to Rammstein, so hopefully you've learned a few words here and there). Amazon.de even ships to Iraq!

Hope you enjoy the song, here are the lyrics:

----------------------------------

Ich brauche Zeit, kein Heroin

kein Alkohol, kein Nikotin

Brauch keine Hilfe, kein Koffein

doch Dynamit und Terpentin

Ich brauche Öl für Gasolin

explosiv wie Kerosin

mit viel Oktan und frei von Blei

einen Kraftstoff wie Benzin

Brauch keinen Freund, kein Kokain

Brauch weder Arzt noch Medizin

Brauch keine Frau, nur Vaselin

etwas Nitroglyzerin

Ich brauche Geld für Gasolin

explosiv wie Kerosin

mit viel Oktan und frei von Blei

einen Kraftstoff wie Benzin

Gib mir Benzin

Es fließt durch meine Venen

Es schläft in meinen Tränen

Es läuft mir aus den Ohren

Herz und Nieren sind Motoren

Benzin

Willst du dich von etwas trennen

dann musst du es verbrennen

Willst du es nie wieder sehen

lass es schwimmen in Benzin

Ich brauch Benzin

Gib mir Benzin

"I just noticed how few stars this single had and I thought it didn't do it justice so I thought I'd write a review. The cd contains Benzin (the first single from Rammstein's cd "Rosenrot") and three remixes. One is by Meshuggah (heavy metal type band), another is by A D Rock (of the Beastie Boys, if I remember correctly). The last one is by a band named Apokalyptica (whom I'm not very familiar with). All of the mixes are good but should it be a must have? I recommend buying this if you enjoyed the song Benzin a lot or if you are a big Rammstein fan. The remixes change the song quite a bit and it's fun and interesting to listen to someone else's adaptation of a song. However, I wouldn't say this is a "must have", because there aren't enough tracks."
