In his latest release for CTA Records, guitarist and composer Rale Micic makes a strong musical statement. With support from the trumpet great, Tom Harrell, who caught onto Rale's talents early on, music just seems to unfold, grounded in Micic's vision. Bursting with new ideas, this young guitarist has created music that sounds fresh and expressive. "Composition is my first and greatest love, and I think that is reflected in my guitar playing. I wanted to make an album that primarily focuses on the melody, which I feel is often neglected in today's music. I have been fortunate to work with musicians who have a tremendous melodic sense, both from the lyrical and rhythmic perspective," Micic says. From the solo guitar's rendition of the traditional Serbian song, to the swift "Lucky Number," and the harmonically challenging "Serbia" written in 7/8 rhythmic meter, the music breathes deeply. Serbia, so titled for Rale's homeland, becomes a journey around the globe, as the composer shares his unique vision and experiences from a life devoted to music. Micic's heritage is a jumping off point where the album takes flight, inviting listeners to soar with the intuitive, diverse musicianship and strong compositions within.
