Good compilation of Rafael Hernandez's work. A variety of artists, contribute to this mainly latin 40's and 50's music. Best song is Lamento Borincano, of course. C.J.

TAKES ME BACK TO THE NEW YORK OF THE '60's !!!

"These recordings have been wonderfully remastered. They take me back to the 60's, a time of innocence, when life was simpler, and families were close by, not separated by State boundaries. I can close my eyes, and picture many wonderful Sunday Dinners together, as a family unit."

"This CD presents a great overview -- or introduction --to the music of Rafael Hernandez, one of Puerto Rico's greatest composers. Great, danceable music, from the humor of "Jugando, Mama, Jugando" to the boleros lamenting love's sorrows. The selection of singers--Marco Antonio Muniz, Daniel Santos, Tona La Negra, Maria Luisa Landin--is incredible. Jorge Negrete's rendition of "Preciosa" is "muy preciosa!" This wonderful tribute to "El Jibarito" should be more widely available. I'm glad that I bought it when I did."
