Synopsis

Amazon.com
As arranger, composer, and producer, Quincy Jones has helped shape American popular music in a unique way--growing and changing with it, interacting with and recombining its elements--from his beginnings in jazz in the 1950s to his extraordinary successes in r&b in recent decades. Much of that achievement is touched on in the love songs of this 2-CD set, beginning with his early jazz work with Sarah Vaughan and the great Frank Sinatra-Count Basie collaboration on "The Shadow of Your Smile." Perhaps more than anyone else, Jones has been responsible for the contemporary shape of r&b, smoothing out its rough edges and focusing a song with complex, innovative production that has a pulsing undercurrent all its own. As this collection so ably demonstrates, Jones is as at home with jazz singer Rachelle Farrell in a recasting of "Moody's Mood for Love" as he is lending his special skills to soulful singers like Patti Austin and James Ingram. --Adam Rains

CD Reviews

Amazing songs from an amazing producer with amazing artists
Little Miss Cutey | Melbourne, Australia | 04/29/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Amazing may be an overused word, but it most acurately describes this cd. You tend to forget that one genius can be responsable for so much great music. This is a fantastic cd that highlights a lot of Quincy's work. And the list of talent on here is outstanding.

Some of the best songs on here are the classic Baby Come To Me (Patti Austin and James Ingram), Just Once (James Ingram) and Heavens Girl (R Kelly, Quincy Jones, Aaron Hall and Ronald Isley). Now where else can you get a collaboration like this. The music is beautiful and people like Brian Mcknight, R Kelly and Aaron Hall and James Ingram have beautiful voices too.

I highly recommend this for true fans of older school R&B and who like to listen to true legends of the music genre. These singers and Quincy are unbelievably talented."
Quincy Jones = Legend

"When you say the name Quincy Jones you have to say the word legend very close by in the sentence. This double disc of great music consists of some of your favorites such as Human Nature, Secret Garden, One Hundred Ways and my personal favorite song You Put A Move On My Heart by Tamia. I also really liked the song Something I Cannot Have by Catero on disc 2. Not sure what happened to him but that was a great song. This album is like it says With Love and just a sample testament to the greatness that is Quincy Jones. The question is not should you buy it; the question is Why Don't You Have It Already????!!!!!!!"
