CD Reviews

Very well done

"I am cautious about buying both praise albums and children's albums, mainly because there are so many out there that are poorly done. Not so with this album. I bought it yesterday at a Christian bookstore sale because I liked the mix of songs on it, although I didn't have high expectations for the arrangements. (I had not heard samples of the album before I purchased it - this was a true risk for me.) I put it in the CD player this morning and I was not only not disappointed, but also pleasantly surprised. I know 11 of the 15 songs, and many of them are favorites. Even the ones I don't care for as much were beautifully done, with gentle, rich female vocals and a lovely (but not "too perfect") children's choir. The arrangements of "Be Unto Your Name" and Michael W. Smith's "Agnus Dei" were especially pleasing to the ear. I think it is a nice way to introduce my 18-month old to quality praise music (besides bringing her to our worship team rehearsals every week). If you are looking for a well-executed album suitable for quiet play or singing in the car (and you are seeking a change from Sesame Street or Veggie Tales), give this album a try."
Better than the first one

"I received "Praises and Smiles" on CD as a baby shower gift. My baby loves it, as do I, so when this album came out, I had to get it. I am so glad that I did! The music selection is wonderful (I am perhaps biased, though, as "Be Thou My Vision" is my favorite hymn), and beautifully recorded. The music quality on this CD surpasses that of "Praises and Smiles" which was very good. I play this CD constantly in the car, and Isaac finds it very soothing."
