CD Reviews

A Unique Album

"I've had this CD in the collection for some years and it's one I always come back to and enjoy listening to again. I almost cherish it now, as I range from trance/dance to full out ambient music in my tastes. I was always disappointed that A Positive Life never produced another album, since this seemed like such a solid piece of work to me.Synaesthetic is in somewhat the same electronic/ambient-with-a-beat genre as the Higher Intelligence Agency's work, but I like it much better than either of the two HIA CDs I have - which I haven't listened to in a long time now that I think about it. Closer to William Orbit's "Strange Cargo 2", but not nearly as pop-ish. It's not as far out as, say, some of what the Orb did, but it's not exactly spacey dance music either. One might be tempted to call it chill-out music, though it's different from what qualifies as that these days. Just totally nice grooves and rhythms creating an enjoyable sonic landscape from one end to the other. It's too interesting and "listenable" to qualify as pure ambient music (under my definition), so if I sound a bit confused trying to describe it with words that should be a clue that it's definitely worth a listen if you have even the slightest notion what I'm trying to get at with all this verbiage."
A beautiful dreamscape from cover to cover

"I've spent some time digging in cd stacks looking for albums like this one. This is some of the best dreamy/spacy ambient techno I've heard. Usually you come out with 1 or 2 good tracks on a CD, but this time each track consistently brings an electric vibrance, inspiring a sympathetic response from the autonomous nervous system (brings chills down your spine)! Check this one out for sure."

"this cd is a real gem! i just got it, and i cant stop listening. it is, as all the other reviews have said, the perfect mix of beats and ambience. the only thing i can really say to describe it is that it sounds a lot like early future sound of london (lifeforms, cascade...), only much more energetic and with a consistent. get this cd! one of my new favorites."
