CD Reviews

"Philly Sweet Soul...Slipped Through The Cracks"!
William Blackshear | West Orange, NJ USA | 12/14/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"For whatever reasons, this top-notched produced Philly sweet soul self-titled album, was at the time of release, and continues today, to be over-looked by sweet soul music lovers in the U.S. Not the case in Japan and Europe, as evidenced by it's $400-$500 price tag for a mint copy of the album in the early to mid-80s in Japan! A UK reissue company to the rescue! Their release of the lp on cd makes this high quality lp availble for collectors of sweet soul, at a fraction of the value of the lp. The lps remain in the hands of collectors. Recommendation of the writer... "No better time than now to purchase the cd, while the getting is good"! As with albums, at some point, many cds go out of print too!"

"Great R&B sound, to bad they never got the exposure they should have after winning first place at the Apollo theater and beating the late great Luther Vandross and the R&B group the Emotions."
