CD Reviews

The best of Portion Control's second epoch.

(4 out of 5 stars)

"One of the most acclaimed, influential and little-known of electronic bands, Portion Control has been name-checked as a big influence by artists ranging from The Prodigy to Skinny Puppy. While Portion Control's initial lifespan was too short to really enjoy the fruits of these labors, they've thankfully returned to the electronic music scene and are producing some of their best work ever. This collection is simply a selection of tracks taken from PorCon's second-stage discography. My only complaint is there could be more. A second disk that's just an EP seems a bit of a waste, and many great tracks from albums like Filthy White Guy and Onion Jack IV (particularly the powerful "Lambeth") didn't make the compilation. Whatever the case, if you want a great introduction to Portion Control's newest material, this is a good one to start with."
