CD Reviews

Warm, emotive progressive house music....
Patrick Hyde | Chicago IL USA | 10/02/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Pointy Teeth is the brainchild of Preston Klik, a veteran of the Chicago music scene (Big Hat, My Scarlet Life, Scarlet Life.) Together with special guest Desiree (a.k.a. DJ Carbon Star) they form a live PA that sounds as good live in concert as they do on their debut album, "Cinema-tech." Desiree adds some vocals, wails, and her scratch DJ abilities. [First time I've seen a female scratch DJ adding to progressive house/trance music!] Pointy Teeth has taken progressive house music to the next level by making it warm, emotive, and intelligent. A little soul into a dance style that many characterize as cold and distant. This is not the older 1990's style progressive house, this is a hybrid that points to the future. Deep Dish, Hybrid, Banco de Gaia, Faze Action, Juno Reactor, Paul Van Dyk, and Underworld have all experimented with adding more emotion and depth to their music. Pointy Teeth's live PA sound takes that feeling to the next level. Pointy Teeth's "Cinema-tech" delivers the goods -- and then some.Standout tracks are "Baby", "India", "Sorry" and "Perfect""
