Synopsis

Product Description
Barbeque, Beer, and Cross Timbers - The Perfect Combination.
The Cross Timbers band plays a unique blend of traditional bluegrass, as well as red dirt country, blues, and folk music. Formed in the spring of 2005, they saw a need in their church for a band that played a more traditional gospel/bluegrass style of music. One thing let to another, and Cross Timbers began to get requests to play outside of the church setting, at bluegrass festivals, family reunions, civic events, and even wedding receptions. Cross Timbers was recently the feature band at the Oklahoma Bluegrass Clubs monthly concert.
In the winter of 2005, Cross Timbers recorded their first CD Rough Cut, which was followed up in 2007 with their newest project Dont Play No Slow Songs!

Vocalist Terri Vogt provides the strong female voice in their music. Paul Hagemeier plays the guitar using a finger style method, as well as the slide steel guitar when needed. Steve Emde plays the banjo for the band, and Matt Emde plays bass. All the band members take turns singing either lead or harmony on the songs. Steve and Matt have also written a couple of songs for the new CD. Steve wrote What Was I Thinking? and Matt wrote Joshua King.

Cross Timbers represents the traditional music of greats such as The Stanley Brothers and The Carter Family at the same time drawing influences from more contemporary artist such as Gillian Welch, Barry and Holly Tashian, and Red Dirt songwriter Bob Childers. Just for fun, the band likes to throw in some 60s and 70s tunes, with a bluegrass twist during their live performances.
