Synopsis

Product Description
Kate Moss isn t the only style icon who can lure Pete Doherty to Paris there s also the Plastiscines. The all-girl rock band received a commendation from their native France last year, presented by Pete himself, along with the French Minister of Culture. But winning over their high-class home crowd was only the start. After writing their first international hit ("Loser") in high school and playing sold-out shows with the Hives, the Slits and Iggy Pop across Europe while still teenagers, it was never going to be long before Katty Besnard (vocals), Marine Neuilly (guitar), Anais Vandevyvere (drums), and Louise Basilien (bass) needed a few new continents to conquer.
People don t expect us, grins Neuilly, packing up her Paris bedroom in anticipation of the band s first proper journey across the States on the NYLON Summer Music Tour with Patrick Wolf, Living Things, and Jaguar Love. We re just 21 years old now, and we ve already recorded our second album, traveled.... It s not that usual to meet girls like us.
Once the month long tour is over, the band will be packing up their vanity cases permanently to move to L.A., after falling for the city while recording their latest record About Love in Malibu earlier this year. Out on August 4 via their new home of NYLON Records, it s an album of stylishly sexy candy-punk that was produced by Butch Walker (Katy Perry, Pink, Avril Lavigne) and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Muse, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand). Butch saw us playing Nancy Sinatra s These Boots Are Made For Walking and immediately fell in love with us, explains Vandevyvere of the origins of the garage-pop collaboration. The result is also the first time the girls have written the majority of their songs in English rather than their native French. I have the impression English words sound more poetic, explains Neuilly of glamorously romantic tracks like "Barcelona" and "Runnaway . Truthfully though, once filtered through Besnard s husky, yet honey-dipped tones, everything sounds pretty amazing.

CD Reviews

Pleasantly Suprised!

"I came across this group by mistake, never knowing anything about this band from France. So I purchased the cd after hearing the sound bites on Amazon. These girls can Rock! I gave this cd a 5 star rating because this was better than I expected. "Barcelona" sounds like a sure hit, with it's catchy dance tempo. My other favorites are "I Could Rob You", "Bitch", the acoustic "I Am Down", "You're No Good" and "Coney Island". If they keep making music like this, they should be successful in the music world."
Awesome french band

Best album of 2009

"This album is amazing! I thought YYY's 'Its Blitz' would be my favourite record this year, but then I heard The Plastiscines - and they know very well how to mix pop, rock, glam and fashion resulting in a glittering new-wave record! It's something really new to indie scene. I hope the next album has more songs in French, though."
