The best Pipe and Drum Band recording I've yet found
04/20/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The 48th Highlanders of Canada are one of the most accomplished bands in the world, and their recordings show it. This is a must have for anyone interested in the great highland pipe bands. A practical "who's who" of traditional pieces played perfectly and recorded as well as can be hoped. As a student of the pipes I can also vouch for this cd's effectiveness as a learning tool."
If you like live pipe bands, you'll LOVE this CD!
C. Holcomb | Upstate NY USA | 06/30/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Speaking as one who haunts highland games all over the east coast of the US, and whose blood thrills to the skirl of the pipes, thump of the bass drum and precise rattle of the snare drums, I can honestly say that, in my opinion, this CD is as close to being at a live band performance as you can get. With a perfect balance of sound, so no one instrument overpowers the others, and a very nice selection of songs, presented by arguably one of the best pipe bands in North America, this is definitely a must-have for lovers of pipe bands. Put this in your CD player, close your eyes, and tear into a plate of steaming haggis with HP sauce, and you'd swear you were at the games!"
Good CD from a very good band
Piper in the Bog | Gorham, ME | 09/02/2004

"As a piper myself I can say that this is a good cd of "band" music, and could be useful for beginning pipers to get a sense of the tunes. This band has a good sound to them, however, if you perfer less traditional tunes (i.e. Chris Armstrong, Gordon Duncan, etc.) this may not be the cd for you."
