Best Pinhead Gunpowder Yet
The Ricker | 10/23/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is by far the best Pinhead Gunpowder CD yet - better than "Jump Salty" even. The singing is mostly by Billie Joe, and almost every song is great (the only song of the nine I think is below average is "Black Mountain, Pt.3", and even this song is listen-to-able). "2nd Street", "Landlords" and "Letter from AOF" are all fantastic. This CD makes me wish Pinhead Gunpowder was an actual touring band..."
Why don't they tour?

"This is a great band and always puts out quality records. Every song on this is great i woulnd't consider this their best cd but it's better than shoot the moon. I wish they would tour at least in the bay area."
A few more rockin' tunes from PG

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Pinhead Gunpowder's latest release is another all-too-brief blast of pop-punk goodness. It ain't life-changing, historically significant, or even all that innovative, but it is catchy as hell, stuffed with soaring hooks and crunchy power chords. It doesn't hurt that the songs are uniformly awesome: "2nd Street" is pure power-pop bliss, with a ringing guitar riff and unashamedly sentimental lyrics ("She's the only girl I want her to be"), while "Letter From An Old Friend" is high speed three-chord sneer. "New Blood," "Crazy Horse," and the comically furious "Funeral" are in a similar vein. There are also a few smarter-than-your-average-punk-pop tunes aboard: "Buffalo" has a great melody and some oddly affecting lyrics, while "Landlords" makes great use of acoustic guitars. For fans of the East Bay scene, this is a real treat."
