He is a pure musical genius and it is certainly apparent on this cd. Cleopatra re-released this with changed artwork. When I first saw this cd, it totally took me by surprise and freaked me out! The cover is so shocking and that's partly what is all about. This cd makes NIN look like Ace of Base. The Fountain of Miracles, The Seven Veils, and Rope are all great industrail tunes. Black Mambo is so amazing and the horns add such a cool feel to this song. Symphony of the Devil is classic and starts off slightly slow and then builds to a tremendous climax! I WAS a little let down that there were no female vocals on this album because I think that's a great contrast to Raymond's patented growl. This album is still so great though! Don't pass this one up. Don't even think about passing this hunk of lard by." Pig crosses various types of music (classical symphony, salsa, etc.) with industrial to reveal a new perspective of the former. Highlights of the album include the enchanting "Seven Veils" and "Blades." As for analogy, this album could have served equally well as the soundtrack for "American Psycho." Also look for the remix by KMFDM, of which Watts was a former member. An aside: the cover art, when fully expanded, it a masterpiece in and of itself." In praise of the LARD A. He has never recorded an album that is short of a four star review and has worked with some of the best bands in the business (KMFDM, FEOTUS etc. His distinct brand of harsh as nails industrial crunch and orchestral beauty are unmatched in this field.His music is also sexual, aggresive and dangerous to those who think LIMP BIZCUT are actually edgy.This particular release is actual a former album and and EP sandwiched together for this reissue from Cleopatra records. Like the label did with the former PRAISE THE LARD (Also from PIG) they did the world a surface by recovering it, but did not take enough care in the packaging to even get the song list right. There as several songs listed out of order, and the song BODY HAMMER is present, but not listed anywhere (It is the song on the track SYMPHONY FOR THE DEVIL, which actually follows BODY HAMMER). Despite the sloppy editing and packaging, this is a must have."
