Synopsis

Album Description
With their liberating energy and versatile songwriting, the Indigo Girls are the reigning muses of folk-rock. The acoustic power duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray are musical fire and water--tender and tough. Their inventive harmonies are works of art that can brighten a song with celebration, or shade it with tension. Whether they're rousing us with anthems of social change, or telling tales of hearts torn on the thorns of love, the Indigo Girls keep it honest, and keep it rocking.Pickin' on the Indigo Girls is big-hearted, back-to-nature bluegrass. When virtuoso picking meets Indigo melody, the music flows like cool creek water. Banjo, mandolin and fiddle spin the Indigo Girls' intricate harmonies into instrumental sprees that rip with energy and soar with feeling. Joyful and alive, Pickin' on the Indigo Girls is pure bluegrass poetry.

CD Reviews

True Indigo Girls Fans will be Horrified
T. Ashley | Urbana, IL | 07/27/2006
(1 out of 5 stars)

"I am a diehard Indigo Girls fan. I also enjoy instrumental guitar, etc. I thought I would enjoy this CD. Let's just say that this CD is to the Indigo Girls as John Tesh is to Metallica. These are "elevator music" versions of Indigo Girls songs and somehow, the musicians on this CD have managed to bleed every bit of complexity and feeling from the music of the Indigo Girls. This was a HORRIBLE CD! I thought I might put it in a yard sale, but decided some other poor true fan would be lured in as I was, so I decided to humanely destroy it by driving over it. If you love the passion of the Indigo Girls and their complex melodies as I do, stay FAR AWAY from this CD."
Great way to enjoy both IG and bluegrass

"If you're like me and love the Indigo Girls and have also slid slowly into actually enjoying bluegrass, then this is just a perfect album. It's all your favorite IG tunes with a really nice blend of great bluegrass sound. It's one of those albums you'll find yourself playing while driving around the country with all of your windows open on a perfect spring day..."
