CD Reviews

Every song is delightful ... listenable ... and yes, nice ..

"I have quite a few English dance band and vocal recordings, and four CDs by this group (two of which are available on Amazon.com). Though these are modern redos and not historical recordings, they are pure pleasure to listen to ... the vocals are a nice mix of male and female voices, familiar tunes, and are performed in the proper English radio music style. These aren't jazz or swing songs, or music in the different American orchestral arrangements ... I find myself reaching for these as pleasant accompaniment when I have things to do around home.If you know and enjoy the music of Ambrose, Lew Stone, the fine Dennis Potter movies ('Pennies from Heaven', 'The Singing Detective', etc.), Henry Hall, and other great British dance bands, listen to the audio clips, and try one of these recordings."

"The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra has played for British royalty and keeps a full schedule. When you listen to this CD, you will understand why.

Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen, Keeping out of Michief Now, Happy Days are Here Again...well done!

They play in the musical genre of the 1920's through 40's, but seem to specialize in early 1930's songs -- the types made popular in Fred Astaire movies. Their band is good sized, together, and top notch. All instruments work together and the songs are accompanied by exceptional vocalists. This group does not cut any corners or make any compromises. Top notch, done right."
