"I was steered to this CD by a friend who loves to discover new music, primarily in the Romantic/Post-Romantic vein. And boy did she do a good job discovering this one. I will admit I had never heard of Friedrich Kiel. But he was a German from the middle part of the 19th century and he obviously took some cues from Mendelssohn and Schumann, but primarily from Brahms. If you love Brahms, I guarantee you'll love this music. And for my money there could never be enough Brahmsian music. The performances are outstanding. I'd never heard of the artists, either, but they are obviously first class. Oh, there is also another recording of Kiel chamber music currently available, including a quintet. Good stuff. Look for it here on Amazon.com, too."
