Once again, the folks at Delmark Records have rung the bell with this trove of prime barrelhouse blues and boogies, the legacy of a man from Georgia with three different careers under three different names. As Willie Perryman, this kid brother of Speckled Red began his distinguished recording career playing with blues immortal Blind Willie McTell. But it wasn't until the 1950s, when, as "Piano Red", he had a string of gold records for Victor, followed by yet another successful career recording for Okeh as "Dr. Feelgood." This well-considered selection starts stomping with the honky-tonk title tune and never lets up. Worthy of special attention are Piano Red's bounding rendition of Leroy Carr's "Low Down Dog Blues," his bright boogie version of the yesteryear classic "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," and his own compositions "Boogie Time," "Comin' On," and "Let's Fall In Love." --Alan Greenberg
