Livia Rev may not be a household word in this country, but she is an excellent pianist, and in Debussy she's second to none. This three disc set offers all of the major piano works. You get the complete Preludes and Images, the Estampes, Children's Corner, and the Suite Bergamasque (which contains the old chestnut Claire de Lune), as well as some other less important works. Rev plays all of this music with astonishing technical aplomb--indeed, these are probably the most purely accurate versions of this music on disc. But she also identifies completely with the composer's unique sound world, and her interpretations are both powerful and completely spontaneous sounding. A great set. --David Hurwitz
