"Michael Dutton has made a career out of rescuing historically significant classical performances from the vaults of major record labels, and lovingly transferring them to the digital medium for future generations to enjoy. This CD featuring delightful 1940s accounts of Mozart, Leigh and Faure piano works by Kathleen Long is no exception. I basically bought this CD for three reasons. I had no music performed by Ms. Long and as an aspiring aficionado, I want to at least familiarize with the great players of the past. Second, I'm a big fan of conductor Eduard van Beinum, and he leads the Concertgebouw in the 1948 reading of Mozart's 24th PC. Finally, I had never heard the Leigh Concertino for Piano & Strings, and since I'm not one to purchase an entire CD of the works of an obscure composer, this title sufficed. Overall, this disc is a good value and has solid mono sound, therefore serious collectors should have no reservations."
