CD Reviews

An excellent, properly re-mixed re-release of this album.
Michael R. Hagerty | United States | 10/09/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Themes For Young Lovers" first appeared in 1963 and featured selected popular hits from the mid-fifties to those just before its release (e.g. "Can't Get Used to Losing You"). These arrangements were by no means "elevator" versions of the original songs, but tasteful treatments which highlighted the quality of song writing which made them hits. There were three follow-up albums in this genre by Faith: "More Themes For Young Lovers", featuring songs like "Sugar Shack", "Um, Um-Um, Um-Um-Um", followed by "Today's Themes For Young Lovers", featuring a female chorus and songs like "59th Street Bridge Song", "Happy Together", "There's A Kind of Hush" and more. The last in this series was "Latin Themes For Young Lovers"."More Themes For Young Lovers" has been released on CD as COL CS8823 or CK8967."

"This is a master of easy listening. The formula is "get a selection of now sound from the 60s" + "make personal well crafted arrangements". Mr.Faith was a master in violin-based arrangements and he was particularly inspired here on this 60s album. "Go away Little Girl" by Carole King and the title song by Faith himself are particularly pleasant tracks. This was music from my teens and this has been music I have listened to up to now."
BEST EASY LISTENING MUSIC

"I USE TO LISTEN TO EASY LISTENING MUSIC ON A CERTAIN FM RADIO STATION IN CHICAGO BACK IN THE 80'S. A GOOD NUMBER OF SONGS THAT I LIKED WERE PERFORMED BY THE PERCY FAITH ORCHESTRA (AND CHORUS).FOUR OF THEM ARE ON THIS ONE CD ("RHYTHM OF THE FALLING RAIN", "ALL ALONE AM I", "UP ON THE ROOF" & "THEMES FOR YOUNG LOVERS"). I DIDN'T REALIZE TILL THEN JUST HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT PERCY FAITH HAD ON EASY LISTENING MUSIC."
