In 2010, there's a band on the crest of a new wave of L.A. music, one that leaves the smog and flashiness behind and slowly washes on shore in a serene lap of piano tinkling and guitar strumming. That band is Pepper Rabbit.
Musically, Pepper Rabbit draw their influences from current and past American experimental indie bands like Beirut and Neutral Milk Hotel, but remain a classic entity unto themselves. On their debut 'Beuregard' (Kanine, Oct 26th), they weave banjos, trumpets, warm electric guitars, pianos, ukeleles, pounding drums, clarinets, and the subtle tones of Xander's voice into complexly constructed, yet unabashedly pop, mini-masterpieces.
