Synopsis

Album Description
Peruvian/American composer Pepe Alva has been a pioneer in the fusion of Alternative Rock with Andean music. His Distinctive and original approach towards Latin Music led him the opportunity to play shoulder to shoulder with major stars like Cafe Tacuba, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Maldita Vecindad. 'Demos', captures his wide rhythmic and lyric influences with unique songs of Latin traditional music combined with moder rock elements.

CD Reviews

A Fine release
James B. Whitney | Minneapolis, MN. USA | 05/05/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is a very good album but, in my opinion, not as good as his first. This disk sounds less Andean which is what made Pepe's first album so memorable. I waited eagerly for Pepe to release a new album and when I saw that he had, I snapped it up.

I have listened to this album many times and it has grown on me but I still miss the pan pipes and flutes which played such a big role on his first disk. This album is much more pop oriented than rock but Pepe does this well. The Andean instruments are there, just much less prominant On some songs, they are absent. The lyrics are very uplifting for those who speak Spanish and Pepe's voice remains strong.

This is a good, not great album and I hope Pepe's next one will be more like his first. If not, he is in danger of becoming just another pop singer for the Spanish speaking audience."
