"Versatility was an attribute of most old time singers and artists and Mexico's "colossal" Pedro Vargas was no exception. Being Mexican,it was only natural that "Don Pedro" felt attracted to his native folklore and music, so early in his career he started singing "rancheras" and even "corridos". RCA Victor Mexicana, immediately noticed this additional "specialty" and since the 40's, started recording "rancheras" and other mexican folk songs sung by Vargas in his unique style. This went on throughout Vargas'singing career and this CD is the result of many of those sessions. "Un Mundo Raro", "Que Bonito Amor", "Ella", "Corazon,Corazon", "La Carin~osa", "La Enorme Distancia", "No Me Amenaces", "El Rey", "Volver,Volver", are some of those rancheras recorded at different stages of Vargas long and brilliant singing career. The musical backing in this CD is mainly provided by Vargas favorite mexican mariachi band "Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan",no family relationship to Vargas, but there was so much long time camaraderie between the two that often during those recording both men can be heard saluting each other like "andele tocayo, asi se canta or asi se toca!"
