CD Reviews

B-Side, one of the BEST!

"I once heard a part of the b-side 'out of my mind' and thought to myself, i must have it! So i went driving around to cd shops and found it after about 2 hours driving, brought the single. I like Not For You and think it is a kick arse song on a kick arse cd. But the b-side is one of the best i have heard. It is a slow but heavy song with good lyrics and changing speeds. It is a great song and well worth getting the single for, i recommend it to any pearl jam fan wanting b-sides!"

"A lot of us know about Pearl Jam's long and dramatic history... but to make a long story short, let's look at the record the main track's off of. Unlike the records before it (Ten and Vs.), Vitalogy moved a bit away from the frustrated arena rock the band was becoming known for, and the band started creating slower (but still angsty, depending on the song) pieces. ... But, to make a long story short...1) Not For You - Rocking, and more attention-grabbing than the usual single ("THIS IS NOT FOR YOUUUU!!!", yells Eddie). Yes, it's mellower than Pearl Jam's other great hits, such as Jeremy and Even Flow... but who cares? It's still the same quality. Listen to the song thoroughly... especially from 2:08 to 2:36. True art.2) Out of My Mind - Similar to several Alice in Chains songs and Nirvana's "You Know You're Right", this track is extremely well-done. The repetitive words (chorus? haha) only add to the song, keeping the emotion flowing. One must wonder why THIS wasn't a single instead... it's catchier and more listenable... but still, if it was put on Vitalogy, it might disturb its atmosphere (despite sounding a bit like YKYR, it's too catchy and singable to fit the subtleness of the record).I got it for a buck (even though it's used; used records are just as good, except cheaper), which makes it one of the best purchases I've ever made. Even if it's only two songs... they're both great. Check it out, if you're a Pearl Jam fan and/or collector."

"If you are a big Pearl Jam fan I reccomend getting this cd because "out of my mind" is really great! It is worth buying the cd for that song alone."
