CD Reviews

Williams is one of the priemer song writers of our time.

"Paul Williams has won an Oscar for his songs. This comes to no surprise to anyone who listens to his music. Compared to the bad poetry found in today's rap sound (I don't dare call that music), Williams is the Mozart of the 20th century. From the words of "That's What Friends Are For" to "Dream Away", Williams conveys what it is to be a friend in today's world to encouraging children to realize their dreams and goals. In the lyrical "Driftwood", Williams makes you feel what it is like to be floating in the uncharted waters of lonliness and despair. While William's voice is not on the same level as Johnny Mathis or Andrea Bocelli, compared to Bob Dylan he sounds like mythical sirens luring sailors. If you are looking for some moments of genuine reflection on what life should be like, then put on this mystical music, prop up your feet, and just listen to the words. Let them transport you for a few moments to a world that could have been. Let them make you feel what it means to be a true friend. But, most of all, let the words give you the feeling of a warm blanket on a cold winter's night in front of the fireplace. Williams is only the masterful guide on this journey of self enjoyment."

"Been searching record bins for a decade for any sign of Paul Williams and now my prayers have been anwered. Ever since I heard the song "What would they say" in the film "Boy in the Plastic Bubble" I've been hooked. Paul Williams is a master song writer and the words and music will catapult you back to the '70s. "You and me against the world" and "If we could still be friends" are worth the price for this gem. If you like the Carpenters or Nilsson you'll love this disc. Enjoy!"

"Paul is in a league of his own as a songwriter. This is some of his finest work, thankfully it's available again on cd (last time it was available from Japan).

I looked for this cd for years. It's great to hear Paul's best work (What Would They Say, Dream Away, and the rest) in digital sound. This is a real treasure."
