Renz leads a remarkable quintet, the same personnel on his last CD "ReBop," through nine original pieces spanning all jazz genres. Funky fusion to blistering bebop, a harmonically rich ballad, open-ended improvisation, and jazz impressionism. The melodies are meant to last, and they will linger long after you've listened to this disc. Anders Bostrom on flutes, and Brian Ziemniak on piano & Hammond B3 are brilliant improvisers, and stand out along with Renz's constant guitar presence. Renz's regular Minneapolis rhythm section (drummer Nathan Fryett & bassist Eric Graham) complete the quintet and keep it churning.
